PORCHTRAITS PROJECT
Wadhurst Culture have recently caught up with Boo at Boodlemcdougallphotography to hear about her recent portrait project for Wadhurst. Here's what she had to say:
As a family we have been in self-isolation and then lockdown since March 13, and I’ve been itching to take photos of this period in time.
It somehow feels so important to have a visual record of ‘Lockdown in Wadhurst’ during a Global Pandemic. I’m hoping this will never happen again!
After a couple of months home-schooling my two older boys, with our toddler throwing toy cars at my head, I escaped the house and started taking “Porchtraits” – socially distanced doorstep photos - of people in front of the houses they have been locked down in, with the people they have been in lockdown with.
It has been a lovely project. I go out as soon as my husband finishes work and cycle round the village to capture different families at home – I’ve had some great chats, caught some lovely moments and enjoyed the the creative process.
For this project I’ve been taking a token fee for a couple of digital images, and donating £5 from every shoot to the NHS. I will keep you updated on how much I raise! Here are a few of my favourite shots so far. You can see more of my photographs, and what I offer, at www.boodlemcdougallphotography.comand follow me on Instagram @boodlemcdougallphotography
