POEMS IN SHOPS
2016 & 2017
In two events we worked with local shopkeepers who placed elevant poems in their shop windows.
The first was “Words of Love in Wadhurst” (Valentine’s Day) and the second was “Foolish Words in Wadhurst” (April 1st - April Fools Day).
Some poems were chosen by the shops, others were suggested by the Wadhurst Culture Team, and the idea in both cases was to match the poem to the shop.
CHILDREN'S BOOK REVIEWS
Two very successful book review competitions for children were held in collaboration with Barnett's Bookshop
THE POET IN THE PUB
Joseph Coelho ran an afternoon workshop for young people in the library, followed by an evening in The Greenhouse.
He read some of his own work and encouraged others to do so.
A Literary Lounge, hosted by Barnetts Bookshop, featured readings and a question and answer session by the local authour Peter Fiennes about his highly popular book Oak and Ash and Thorn; The Ancient Woods and New Forests of Britain.
This was so popular that the Cafe at Wealden Wholefoods was used to accommodate the large audience.
This event was part of When the Oak Spoke.
